C1 Cafe, Chatswood

I was rather surprised when I read all the negative reviews of C1 Cafe, which is located in prime position on the ground floor of the Chatswood Chase shopping centre. We may have just been lucky, visiting late on a Monday morning for an early lunch when the cafe was quite empty. I wouldn’t say the service was outstanding, as we did have to regularly request more drinking water but the waitstaff were friendly enough and our food came out quite quickly. As I have frequently mentioned, I love anything garlic prawns, so I was immediately drawn to the prawn linguine with garlic and chilli.

This dish was super tasty, with the pasta perfectly cooked, the prawns juicy and loads of flavour in the sauce. I would have liked a bit more of a chilli hit but that is just personal preference, as my boyfriend thought it was fine as is. He ordered the fish and chips and was very happy with it.

The batter was light and crispy and the tartare sauce added just enough freshness to an otherwise heavy meal. My boyfriend managed to polish the whole plate off in no time at all, so he clearly enjoyed it!

TL;DR:

  • Standard cafe fare, but tasty and generous servings
  • Open and spacious layout, conveniently located for a mid-shopping break!
